“In the Hot Seat: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of Media Crossover”
Today’s changing media landscape is bold, brilliant and constantly changing. From social media to personal branding, video, blogging and the coveted pitch, professionals find themselves quickly learning and honing new skills on a daily basis – all to create relevant, interesting content.
Amidst these fast-paced changes, the basic principles of good storytelling and solid relationship-building still remain the same across the board – in both the media and public relations/advertising professions. An interactive, intimate roundtable event, co-hosted by the Young PR Professionals and the Rochester Young Media Professionals, will explore these topics and others at Dixon Schwabl on Dec. 1, 6-8 p.m.
The roundtable’s panel will feature local media, public relations and advertising professionals in an interactive, Q&A forum among industry colleagues. Moderated by Tom Proietti, esteemed professor of media and advertising at St. John Fisher and Monroe Community College. Roundtable panelists include:
- Zack Seward, Multimedia Reporter, WXXI Public Broadcasting Council
- Jon Alhart, Public Relations Supervisor, Dixon Schwabl
- Rebecca Leclair, News Anchor, News10NBC
- Meghan Backus, Public Relations Specialist, Highland Hospital
Attendees will learn:
- How to expand their professional network – with media, public relations and advertising professionals in Rochester
- How to gain a mutual understanding of both industries, and relevant cross-over skills
- Best practices for working together, and new tools for the changing media landscape
