Having an effective mentor is invaluable. Mentors can help with career decisions, evaluate potential development programs, write letters of recommendation, conduct mock interviews and work to develop an overall strategy for success. When a mentorship relationship is successful, it can literally change lives by developing talent, creating cross-cultural awareness, and form lifelong relationships. 

Finding a potential mentor and developing an effective relationship can be challenging, so where do you begin? And how do you maximize the connection once created?

Find out the answers to these questions and explore other related topics to get the most out of a mentorship from an interactive panel event, hosted by the Young PR Professionals, at The Strong on March 19, 5:45-8 p.m.

The panel will feature local public relations and media professionals in an interactive, Q&A forum among industry colleagues, and moderated by Tom Proietti, esteemed professor and Resident Scholar in Media at St. John Fisher College. The panelists will include:

• Dresden Engle, Public Relations Manager, George Eastman House International Museum of Photography & Film  
• Kevin Kane, APR, Corp. Comm. Special Projects Manager, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield
• Tracy Till, Chief Executive Officer at Butler/Till

Attendees will learn:

• How to effectively participate in a mentorship program and/or advocate for one
• How to get the most out of a mentorship program through internship opportunities, building a professional network and learning the right questions to ask.
• Best practices and tools to use while working with a mentor now and in the future

• Recommendations and suggestions for interviewing, building a strong resume, and other tips and tricks for managing through today’s job market
