Panel includes corporate, nonprofit, agency and academic PR experts discussing the challenges social media presents to the ethical practice of public relations.
Social media has become a significant and highly effective tool in our PR kit. But in many ways, it’s also a brave new world, with such platforms as sponsored content, blogs, interactive sites for sharing and a host of online media outlines. As we navigate this frontier, new questions arise. For instance, what challenges does social media present to the ethical practice of public relations?
Debating and discussing this topic will be a panel of experts:
- Jon Alhart - Vice President, Social and Digital Media at Dixon Schwabl
- Heather Hare - Director of Communications & Outreach for the Huntington Study Group
- Andrea Hickerson - Associate professor of journalism in the School of Communication at Rochester Institute of Technology
- Alyson Shurtliff - Manager, Social Media for Eastman Kodak Company
Moderating the panel will be Ellen Rosen, PRSA Rochester’s Ethics Officer and director of RIT University News Services.
